The Early Sixes
The Early Sixes are an American acoustic driven folk-pop ensemble forged in the heart of Chicago.
The band was officially formed in late 2012, naturally evolving from friendships into musical partnerships in basements, apartments and bars across Chicagoland. The Early Sixes are Matt Charoenrath (vocals, guitar), Dan Zuba (guitar), Sam Zuba (bass, vocals), Nate Meyer (cello), Ben Peterson (piano, guitar) and Ben Zuba (percussion). With a stripped-down but high-energy acoustic sound, the band will often perform live with different variations of the core lineup.
The Early Sixes take a collaborative and hands-on approach to songwriting and recording, with every member contributing to the creative process. Tracks typically stem from a traditional singer-songwriter foundation, exploring a story or idea from a member that gets expanded through the lens of the group then developed into a layered composition influenced by each member’s diverse musical style and sensibilities.
Every track on the band’s upcoming album was entirely self-recorded in the basement home studio of a band member in the suburbs of Chicago, and was self-produced by the group. The Early Sixes’ music represents the full lifecycle of the creative process, completing tracks by collaborating with engineers across the world to bring their vision to life.
