I AM FEST is an all-day event featuring local entertainment and visual performers at House of Blues along with neighborhood artists, photographers and other activities with exhibits showcasing the best of Chicago’s creative community.
The full lineup reflects a diversity of styles but remains united by quality and a commitment to the Chicago music scene. Unlike other music festivals around the city, all of I AM FEST’s performers are local artists writing some of the area’s best original music, and they all support the greater arts and music community. Bodega is a rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 2017. The band released their debut demo, “Clybourn Sessions,” in Spring 2017, which featured original recordings Bar Close, Windy City Blues, Fullerton Girl, and Stealin’. The band’s heavy, guitar-driven sound is a blend of Rock n’ Roll, Blues, and alternative country.
Formed in late 2017/early 2018, the Chicago native indie-rock band, Gorilla Social, has been found playing the local underground music scene relentlessly. After their debut show at the Elbo Room in early January, the band has been establishing itself as a major presence with a fresh new sound to indie rock music. And with a diverse collection of musical backgrounds and influences, the group is able to tap into a variety of different genres. The best way to describe the music would be – If the Alabama Shakes had a baby with the Arctic Monkeys, and Young the Giant had a baby with Led Zeppelin, and then those two babies grew up and had kid.. it would probably sound something like Gorilla Social. Debut album will be released this summer.
Oakmen are a post-punk, indie-rock band from Chicago. The band features catchy, infectious hooks and the emotional realism of post-punk from bands like Joy Division and Interpol. Oakmen play fun, indie-rock with lyrical depth that focuses on human connections in the turbulence of modern-day. Two songs, CIGARETTE LIFE and JUST A START, will be featured in the upcoming film, “When Jeff Tried to Save the World,” starring John Heder (Napoleon Dynamite).
A group united by music and its impact that transcends world cultures. We have the mission to spread the wide diversity of Latin American rock and unite in a universal language the born rhythm that we carry in our blood.
Comprised of cousins Eddy Birth (singer/songwriter/instrumentalist) and Sean Birth (Percussionist), this rock duo will give you the straight skinny.
Weird Beard is a Chicago based pop rock band that blends modern sounds with old school blues rock and soul. Comprised of singer/guitarist Mark Stevens, drummer Ryan Berger, multi -instrumentalists Kevin Stevens, and Matt Settle along with saxophonist Spencer Rose – the group brings a heavy rock edge tinged with a powerful horn section to create a sound that is sure to keep you wanting more. Recorded material is currently available to listen on Spotify.
Wilde is a Chicago-based 5-piece Band, founded in 2015 by Paul Palos & Timmy Briones. It began as an experiment to bridge the rich musical tradition of American folk and the gritty lyricism of urban rap. It has since morphed to incorporate multiple musical genres including: blues, rock, gypsy, and indie. Yet, at its core it remains a musical expression of Americana.
